Me, Kodiak and Rosie in Leadville, Colorado
It was a year 2003. I lived in a beautiful Colorado mountain town called Buena Vista. Having already an English setter boy at home I was thinking about another one, a female pup.
Rosie came from the Setter Ridge Kennel, Washington. She was born out of Emanuel (Set’r’Ridge’s Gold in Platinum) and Dani (Set’r’Ridge’s Animation). At that time, Emanuel was a fresh ESAA Futurity Winner and a lot-talked-about among the American breeders. On the other hand, Dani looked proportional and feminine. I was excited about getting a pup from this litter.
When I first saw Rosie, I realized how different she was from all the other setters I’ve had before. She was brisk, had very strong instincts and will. Like a regular pup, she was also mischievous every once in a while…I knew she will need a lot of attention, at least during her puppyhood.
While Rosie was hard to stack, we had great success with obedience. I start early with obedience, but at that age this "play-exercise" only lasts some 3-5 minutes at once. This is enough for a 3-5 months-old pup. The puppy would learn the essential words like "no", "come", "stand" and "sit".
Stacking Rosie
Rosie was 7 months old when we moved to Columbia, Tennessee. It was a totally different atmosphere for dogs who were used to the wilderness of Colorado.
In March 2004, we moved back to Estonia. Rosie was 8 months old when she had her flight over the ocean. Once again, she found herself in a new and very exciting environment. She discovered the sea and all the birds who resided there. Thus, the summer of 2004 was without any doubt, an exciting one both for Rosie and me.
Rosie has participated in numerous dog shows. Many judges recognized Rosie as a good representative of her breed. By the time she gave birth to Muri, she was Estonian, Lithuanian, Byelorussian and Russian Champion. She also has a Baltic Junior Winner title and first rank in basic obedience.
Rosie is a very healthy as well as active dog – something I can be really proud of. She has AA hips, 00 elbows and she is BAER normal.
At the age of 6, she was mated with a nice Finnish boy Popi (Golden Jump Brad) and she gave birth to three pups. We waited for this litter for a long time, which is why we called it “VERY EXPECTED”.
